"Carols, carols…" Festival at its first edition

The Choral Music Association of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with "Edelweiss" Foundation for the Development of the Republic of Moldova launched on Friday, December 24, the first Edition of the “Carols, carols…” Festival, which took place at the Organ Hall.

The Choral Music Association of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with "Edelweiss" Foundation for the Development of the Republic of Moldova launched on Friday, December 24, the first Edition of the “Carols, carols…” Festival, which took place at the Organ Hall.

More than 400 children from disadvantaged families from several specialized centers for children, children from socially-vulnerable families and representatives of the civil society participated at the event. An hour prior to the event, the children had the opportunity to watch a wonderful performance with Santa Clause and Snow White and receive presents from the representatives of the Edelweiss Foundation.

Eight choir ensembles from all over the country participated at the first edition of the "Carols, carols…" Festival: "Lia Ciocirlia" choir from the ATICO Republican Center for children and youth; "Gaudeamus" choir of the Pedagogical University from Balti; "Rodoliubet" choir from Tvardita village, Taraclia region; "Gavriil Muzicescu" choir from the Music Academy; "Cantabile" choir from the Academy of Economic Studies of the Republic of Moldova; "Rapsodia" choir of chamber music; "Academia" choir of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Moldova and "Credo" choir of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova.

The repertoire of each participant included one mandatory carol – "Oh, what wonderful news" and several other carols by choice. At the end of the Festival the participants received a Participation Diploma and presents handed by the organizers of the event.

Aneta Serbusca, Executive Director of the "Edelweiss" Foundation: "Our goal was to organize such a Festival of Carols that would reveal the beauty of our national heritage during the winter holiday season. I would like to point out the presence of a lot of children in the audience - this is a response to the main objective of Edelweiss - to bring the holiday spirit in the hearts of the children."
Elena Marian, the Chairman of the Festival thanked "Edelweiss" Foundation and its founder, Mr.Vlad Plahotniuc, for the support in organizing such a festival in the Republic of Moldova. She mentioned that choral music, especially now, during caroling season, brings us closer to our roots, traditions, history and ancestors.
The participants and choir conductors who participated said that they liked the initiative of organizing such a type of festival and expressed their hope that it will become a beautiful tradition in the future.
