Performance Awards Gala: President of Moldova, ministries and culture personalities offered wards on behalf of Edelweiss Foundation

More than 400 beneficiaries of Edelweiss Foundation, personalities from the fields of culture and arts, politicians and representatives of civil society participated Thursday evening at the Edelweiss Performance Awards Gala – an event organized for the first time by the foundation, under the patronage of Vlad Plahotniuc. The prizes were offered on behalf of Edelweiss Foundation by the President of the Republic of Moldova, and Ministers of the Government.

More than 400 beneficiaries of Edelweiss Foundation, personalities from the fields of culture and arts, politicians and representatives of civil society participated Thursday evening at the Edelweiss Performance Awards Gala – an event organized for the first time by the foundation, under the patronage of Vlad Plahotniuc. The prizes were offered on behalf of Edelweiss Foundation by the President of the Republic of Moldova, and Ministers of the Government.

President Nicolae Timofti presented the special prize of the Gala to a group of ten students for results achieved at international Olympiads. Every student received by 5,000 lei from Edelweiss Foundation, which wanted thus to reward and encourage the young people. During the entire evening, the president Nicolae Timofti watched the show alongside the founder of Edelweiss Foundation, Vlad Plahotniuc.

In his speech, the head of state praised Edelweiss Foundation for its national charity projects. “We want to build a society where we are able to promote talented people, based on their merits. Only with this approach we can move forward with the reforms, and the first step on this path is the Edelweiss Foundation Gala, which gives the proper appreciation to the men of merit. The fact that this evening we are witnessing the awarding of people with great performances shows us that the Moldovan society learned to appreciate values. This is the first time for me to participate at such festive event. This Gala is organized by Edelweiss and its founder Vlad Plahotniuc. I wish him good health and a lot of luck in the future”, said the president Nicolae Timofti.

Another five trophies were awarded during the Edelweiss Performance Awards Gala. Each of the five nominations were accompanied by certificates with the value of 50,000 MDL each, offered by Edelweiss to the institutions, leaded by the laureates of the Gala, as follows:

• The trophy “Fruits of Hope” was offered to Gheorghe Avornic, Director and Founder of the orphanage “Hope of Children”, handed by Loretta Handrabura, vice minister of Education;
• The trophy “Guide of Young Talents” was offered to Vlad Negruzzi, President of Cultural Society Vatra, handed by Vladimir Hotineanu, president of Parliamentary Commission for Social Protection, Healthcare and Family;
• The trophy “Commitment to Culture” was offered to Elena Marian, President of Musical-Coral Association of the Republic of Moldova, handed by Octavian Bodisteanu, Minister of Youth and Sport;
• The trophy “A life in the Service of Life” offered to Stefan Gatcan, General Director of Mother and Child Center, handed by Valentina Buliga, Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Family;
• The trophy “My mission: performance” was offered to Petru Gozun, President of the Dance Sport Federation of the Republic of Moldova, handed by Monica Babuc, Minister of Culture.

The Executive Director of Edelweiss, Lara Moraru, entered the stage on behalf of the Foundation with a message addressed to all the beneficiaries the organizations had over the three and a half years of activity. “The representatives of Edelweiss Foundation enjoyed each moment when you were smiling or applauding. We are grateful for all the good that you allow as to do each and every day!”, said Lara Moraru.
