The fundraising activity for the Mother and Child Institute has been launched

The fundraising campaign for The Mother and Child Institute (MCI) was launched yesterday, April the 12th, in the framework of a charity concert featuring LaimaVaikule and local singers: Tania Cerga and CatalinJosan. The concert, which gathered over 1000 people,is the first event of a complex national campaign which will last 12 months.

The fundraising campaign for The Mother and Child Institute (MCI) was launched yesterday, April the 12th, in the framework of a charity concert featuring LaimaVaikule and local singers: Tania Cerga and CatalinJosan. The concert, which gathered over 1000 people,is the first event of a complex national campaign which will last 12 months.

The Revive Moldova fundraising campaign aims at raising 18.563.913, 38 MDL, a sum that will be used to do the repairs works and purchase the necessary medical equipment for the Mother and Child Institute from Chisinau. According to Stefan Gatcan, the Director General of MCI, the modernization process will constitute of six phases,depending on the raised money.

By means of a video message, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti, encouraged people of good will to get involved in supporting this campaign of solidarity. “These types of actions are necessary for the entire society. I call all people of goodwill to contribute to the repairs works of this medical institution. I would like to thank people who thought and launched this initiative and I strongly believe that together we can succeed!” mentioned the head of state.

The first substantial donations were made during the campaign launch concert. Vladimir Plahotniuc, the founder of Edelweiss Foundation announced that 1,856,913 lei were already on the accounts of MCI, representing 10% of the total amount of needed amount.“I am honored to make this donation, primarily because last year I made several visits to MCI and saw the condition of the maternity wards where mothers give birth to children. The care that we have for mothers and children defines us as humans, as people of good faith and bring us motivation,“That is how VladPlahotniucexplained his gesture of charity.

The singers CatalinJosan and Tania Cerga announced during the concert that they are willing to be part of REVIVE MOLDOVA campaign, donating a part of their concert honorariums for supporting the cause. “I join this campaign with a great pleasure. Being a mother myself I gave birth to my child at MCI and I know how important it is for a young mother to have good conditions in order to become a good parent. I congratulate you on this noble cause of renovating the MCI. Let us support this project together”, mentioned Tania Cerga. On his behalf, CatalinJosan congratulated people present at the concert for coming that evening for charity. “Revive Moldova campaign is an honorable cause and I can assure you that together we can change the world. Little by little, altogether we will renovate MCI”, was the message of CatalinJosan to the audience of “Maria Biesu” National Opera and Ballet Theatre.

LaimaVaikule had a message of encouragement as well, mentioning how proud she was to be among generous people of the Republic of Moldova.“I am happy to participate in this charitable concert. I am glad there are people with open hearts here”, mentioned the singer with Lithuanian roots.
