Igor Corman, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and Ulla Schmidt, the Vice-President of the German Bundestag visited the Institute of Mother and Child today. This visit was a great occasion for the Moldovan official to request assistance from Germany for the renovation of the hospital.

“We are Europeans and we want this hospital to get to European level. We have to move this project forward, namely Revive Moldova campaign”, said the speaker of Parliament Igor Corman. He also mentioned that he discussed with Ulla Schmidt a potential collaboration between a top German hospital and the Institute of Mother and Child from Chisinau. Igor Corman noted: “The German partners support us in this matter and want to assist us in this project”. The speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova reinforced his willingness to contribute financially to the campaign, reinforcing that other deputies will follow his example.

Ulla Schmidt, the Vice-President of the German Bundestag, who also held the position of the Ministry of Health of Germany, thanked for the great opportunity to visit the hospital and said that it is important to have a sound technical base in healthcare.

“I support your cause, your objective to create a modern institution up to the standards. I cannot promise anything, but I will forward your request and will try to find you one or more partner institutions and I am sure I will succeed. When the efforts are joined, beautiful things happen. We’ll hear each other soon”, said the German official.

Stefan Gatcan, Director General of the Institute of Mother and Child, thanked Igor Corman and Ulla Schmidt for the visit and mentioned once again that the objective of the campaign is to renovate the hospital according to European standards. “The goal of Revive Moldova campaign is to raise funds for the renovation of the Mother and Child Institute.
