Far as 20 years ago the library received the last set of books on its shelves. We are talking about a number of libraries from the country, where the newest books are older than the independence of the Republic of Moldova. The worst case is Briceni, where only 50 bani on capita are being spent on books acquisition.

Knowing the situation in Briceni on this issue, Edelweiss Foundation, in the framework of “For the book of Moldova” campaign decided to come with a helping hand. The regional library will distribute some of the donated books to village libraries as a result.

Mr. Vlad Plahotniuc, the founder of “Edelweiss” Foundation declared: “I think investing in education is worthwhile, absolutely necessary and useful. Moreover, a number of books will go to village libraries, which are very poor in books. This kind of investment has a great return.”

In the framework of “For the book of Moldova” campaign, “Edelweiss” Foundation will offer more than 15 thousand books. Besides libraries, the State Editing House “Cartea Moldovei” will also become a beneficiary as it faces financial difficulties.
