The show “Tree of Life” by Dumitru Matcovschi, received the most of the awards at the Awards Gala of the Theatre Union of Moldova. The event was sponsored by Edelweiss Foundation and was conducted Monday, March 28th, in the theatre “Mihai Eminescu”. The contest gathered 43 professional theatrical performances of the Republic of Moldova.

Thus, the “Tree of Life”, staged at “Mihai Eminescu” theatre, won the prize for best dramatic performance, which was handed over by the Prime Vice-President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Vlad Plahotniuc. In his congratulatory speech, he mentioned: “When I first entered the politics arena, I found many similar features to the theatre. In politics, as in theatre, there is a stage and a backstage…There are positive and negative actors…There is fiction and reality…There is tragedy and comedy…There is decency and duplicity…”. Vlad Plahotniuc believes that there is more dedication and vocation in the theatrical world.

According to Mr. Vlad Plahotniuc, in theatres “the professional cast works typically in favor of exclusively talented people. This is the great advantage of theatre over the politics. We hope that once, the political arena will achieve the specific level of performance of the theatre”.
It is worth being mentioned, that the prize for best theatre play was offered to the “Tsar’s Bride”, by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, played on the stage of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Among the list of invited and honorable guests of the event was Mr. Ion Caramitru, the president of the Theatre Union of Romania, and members of the panel of judges of the Gala like Constantin Cheianu, Victor Melnic, Sandu Leanca, Pavel Pelin and Sandu Vasilache (president).

In total, there were offered 15 prizes and medals: “Eugeniu Ureche”, “Constantin Constantinov”, “Sandri Ion Scurea”, “Veniamin Apostol”, “Leonid Cemirtan”, “Anatol Pinzaru”.
