“For the book of Moldova” campaign continues in 2012 as well! Edelweiss Foundation launched this year‘s edition with a donation of books to the regional library of Donduseni. In the framework of the campaign the first lot of donated books were the collections of selected works of Dumitru Matcovschi, Ion Druta, Mihai Eminescu, Ioan Luca Caragiale and others.

Aneta Serbusca, the Executive Director of Edelweiss Foundation, who was present at the event, mentioned: “one of objectives of “For the book of Moldova” campaign” is to promote reading in the Republic of Moldova. We are reaching the mentioned above objective through the assisting the State Publishing House, donations made to schools and lyceums , through promoting reading among school children.”

Continuing its educational campaign in 2012, Edelweiss Foundation is responding to the requests of tens of libraries throughout the country, requiring books for children and elderly people as well. “The launch of such a campaign was essential due to the lack of compulsory reading materials for pupils and students, but due to the lack of financial means the local authorities are able to fill in the gaps with only several new titles.”Aneta Serbusca also mentioned that Edelweiss Foundation will mainly focus on the village school libraries.

25 settlements from the all over the Republic of Moldova will benefit from “For the book of Moldova campaign 2012”. The beneficiaries will receive donations of 500 books each.

Edelweiss Foundation will continue the reading promotional campaign with the same determination as before, by means of educational program, which do not only refer to donations of books, but also stimulating and reviving the passion and culture for reading in young people.
