
Andrei Ivanov is the young man who brought the fame of Moldova outside the borders of the country by winning the first places at international mathematics competitions. At only 18 years the man can be proud with a full collection of medals and diplomas that he obtained solving problems that created trouble and headache to even the most notorious mathematicians. Andrew is the author of "Competitive Geometry Problems" which was published in Romania in 2009 and comprises a volume of over 250 geometry problems.
Mathematics has been for him a passion and a life lesson. It disciplined him and made him a winner, and finally brought the best gift: admission to Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Due to the quality of studies and curricula, laboratories equipped campus which the institution has; in 2012 Massachusetts Institute of Technology was ranked as the second leading international best academic institution in the world.
President of Singapore, the one from Costa Rica, the UN Secretary-General, and Prime Minister of Greece are few personalities who have graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Admission to the prestigious university is the greatest reward for Andrew, for all the school years, in which he studied harder than any of the child of his age. Whenever he stood on a stage during any competition, he raised his head up high, even though he was scared and always ready to be tested.
Andrew is passionate of image, so that little free time he has, he spends taking pictures and videos. Admission to the famous American university, he says, allows him to combine all this occupations.
The young man, who comes from a modest family, has become a pride not only for parents but also for the country, becoming an example of performance.
In the Framework of Edelweiss Foundation’s campaign “Your success is the success of Moldova”, which supports young performances, Andrei will be granted a one year scholarship from behalf of the Foundation.
