Edelweiss Foundation answered these days to an unusual request from behalf of 60 children from Salvirii Noi Gymnasium, Drochia region. The pupils, through a group signed letter, kindly requested a donation of computers from Edelweiss Foundation. The reason? Starting from year 1971, from the official opening of the school, the educational institution did not modernize its equipment at all, moreover, the gymnasium had only one computer , and the computer science lessons were held using only that one computer and the children waited in line to have a chance to work at it- once in 15 lessons!

Edelweiss Foundation’s Board of Directors immediately approved this request, and in a short period of time the gymnasium was visited by the representatives of the donor organization. “We reward performance where a helping hand can change peoples’ lives”. – said Edelweiss Foundation’s representatives, who brought 5 modern computers, one color printer and one TV set as present to the gymnasium.

Edelweiss’s donation for the schoolchildren of Salvirii Noi gymnasium is just a humble example of the Foundation’s efforts towards supporting the education in the Republic of Moldova. With the help of Edelweiss Foundation a number of 60 pre-school institutions, 5 students’ dorms from Chisinau and various lyceums and universities from all around Moldova were equipped with computer classes, while a number of talented young people receive modern laptops as present.

Salvirii Noi gymnasium is situated in a village from Drochia region and is an integral part of Palanca commune. It is the sole educational institution in the region and children from the neighboring villages study here. At present the education process in the gymnasium is ensured by only 10 people, 5 from which are second category teachers. Teachers and pupils are always involved in extra-curricular activities and participate at local and regional contest.
