Flood Victims’ Assistance Program Continues! One more house has been donated to the Ababie family from the district of Hancesti
02 August 2010On Monday, August 2nd 2010, the flood victims’ assistance program marked another success – we moved another family which suffered from floods. With the support of the “Edelweiss” Foundation in partnership with Prime TV, the Ababie family found their home again.
On Monday, August 2nd 2010, the flood victims’ assistance program marked another success – we moved another family which suffered from floods. With the support of the “Edelweiss” Foundation in partnership with Prime TV, the Ababie family found their home again. They were donated a house and a plot of land in the village of Bujor, Hincesti district.
The Ababie family is originally from the village of Sarateni, Hincesti district and is composed of 6 members. Their house collapsed due to the floods. Until recently they have lived in their parents’ old house, which was also damaged. They slept on the floor, in difficult conditions. They managed to save the animals, the TV set, the refrigerator and one armchair from the floods.
Ion Ababii, aged 42, worked on construction sites in the summer time and as a stoker at the local school during the winter. Lilia Ababii, 36 years old, is a housewife who took care of the house, the garden, the children and the ill parents. Lilia got married at 16 and ever since the spouses built their house. After 20 years they secured all the necessary living conditions: their house was small, but they had running water, gas and furniture. They were extremely proud of their fence and gate. They saved money for a whole year in order to be able to purchase and install three double-pane windows, but they didn’t get to enjoy them for too long due to the floods.
Apart from the donated house, the “Edelweiss” Foundation donated them funds to purchase a plot of farmland, and also gave toys for the girls and a bicycle for the 17 years old boy. The house was refurbished; furniture and home appliances were brought and new double-pane windows were installed.

You have offered us everything we’ve dreamt of, and even more, you’ve offered us hope for the future!”
