Young people from different parts of the country participated during the past days in the 17th edition of the National Festival “THE STAR OF CHISINAU – THE STAR OF MOLDOVA – 2011”, an event organized with the support of Edelweiss Foundation.
The participants competed for the trophy of the Festival, which represents the symbol of the opened gates of Chisinau with the saving Star of Bethlehem, and for the Grand Prix of the Festival – 16,000 lei, offered by the Edelweiss Foundation. This year the participants of the festival were separated into two groups: children (8 – 13 years old) and youth (14 – 30 years old), each of them performing one song in Romanian. This year’s edition of the festival counted 18 participants in the youth section, and 19 – in the children section.
“On behalf of Mr. Vlad Plahotniuc, I would like to congratulate the organizers of this beautiful festival, which over 17 editions have shown that it is a true fruit garden for the talents we have in our country”, declared Diana Danu, counselor of the First Vice-President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Vlad Plahotniuc, who is also the founder of Edelweiss.
“The edition of this year is a small social project, as many financially disadvantaged children and young people have been exempted from the payment of participation fee, therefore we are glad we could contribute and facilitate their participation in this Festival”, said Diana Danu.
During three days of the festival, the young participant perfumed such famous pieces as „De-ar fi să vii” by Mihaela Runceanu, „Nebun de alb” by Emerik Imre and many others.
The grand prix of the “Children” section was won by Valeria Engaliceva from Balti city, with the stage name Leroka. “This is a very nice feeling. When they said that I won the grand prix, it was indeed the biggest prize in my life” said Valeria.
The trophy of the youth section went to Doina Bordeianu, who got the sympathy of the jury and the audience by performing a song from the repertoire of Madalina Manole.
Upon the Edelweiss Foundation request, two honorable guests took the stage of the last night of the Festival after the Gala Concert, Jozef Ivaska, who came from Austria, and Marcel Pavel from Romania, who made the audience enjoy two outstanding recitals.
