Scholarship for a young man from Durlesti, Olympian at informatics contests
26 November 2015Edelweiss Foundation awarded a scholarship worth 20.000 MDL to Gabriel Cojocaru, a student in the 9th grade at the Theoretical High School Orizont from Durelsti, Olympian in mathematics and informatics. The scholarship offered by Edelweiss will be very useful to Gabriel, who is participating these days at an international contest in Bulgaria, Shumen International Competition in Informatics.

Edelweiss Foundation awarded a scholarship worth 20.000 MDL to Gabriel Cojocaru, a student in the 9th grade at the Theoretical High School Orizont from Durelsti, Olympian in mathematics and informatics. The scholarship offered by Edelweiss will be very useful to Gabriel, who is participating these days at an international contest in Bulgaria, Shumen International Competition in Informatics.
Gabriel Cojocaru holds already 20 diplomas, which he obtained at different national and international contests. According to him, these diplomas are very important, as each of them represents a step forward in his education.
“We hope that this one time scholarship that Edelweiss if offering Gabriel will help him to perform further and obtain other important prizes in the competitions he is participating in now and will participate in the future. The decision to support Gabriel came somehow naturally, as one of the objectives of Edelweiss is to support successful young people from the Republic of Moldova. Along the time, we engaged and supported many young people who are valuable to our country, who managed to obtain beautiful results in different areas”, said Lara Moraru, Executive Director at Edelweiss Foundation.
Gabriel’s parents are along his side always, cheering him up before every competition and supporting him financially. The scholarship from Edelweiss is a true joy for them, as travel and accommodation expenses to the cities where competitions Gabriel is participating in take place are not small at all.
“We are doing everything in our power to support our boy”, said Gabriels’s mother.
The boy’s dream is to continue his studies abroad and then to return home to be able to contribute to the development of informatics in the Republic of Moldova.
