More than 100 children from Cigirleni village and other neighboring villages from Ialoveni district welcomed today for the first time the Mobile Pediatric Cabinet “Revive Moldova”. The children waited patiently in a line being accompanied by their parents or grandparents to be medically examined. Two pediatricians, a doctor who specializes in ultrasound and a nurse worked hard continuously.
This was the first day the Mobile Pediatric Cabinet “Revive Moldova” set off for the villages of the country to provide free medical consultations.
Mothers from Cigirleni said that they are really happy of this Edelweiss Foundation’s initiative, adding that it’s difficult for them to travel about 30 km to the hospital from the district center to get examined their children.
Besides medical examinations the pediatricians provide the mothers with advices to take proper care of their babies. “We will appreciate their physical and mental development, if necessary we will do the ultrasound examination. All the children under one year who has never been examined with ultrasound – either in abdominal or renal areas – will be obligatorily tested for early detection of possible congenital malformation and an appropriate subsequent treatment”, said Maria Mihalache who is one of the doctors involved in the “Revive Moldova” campaign.
Overall, 14 pediatricians and seven specialists in ultrasound are involved in this project. “The pediatricians are well trained. They are sent by the Ministry of Health. The localities have been selected based on clear criteria: either there is no family doctor in that village, or there is no medical center”, explained Lara Moraru, director of the Edelweiss Foundation.
The Campaign is organized by Edelweiss in partnership with the Ministry of Health to be carried out in the next months. During this period dozens of villages will be visited. Further, the Mobile Pediatric Cabinet will stop in Cimislia district: April 21 in Porumbrei village, April 22 in Sagaidac village. The full schedule is constantly being updated and is available on the Edelweiss Foundation’s website – www.edelweiss.md
