Ungheni Center for Rehabilitation and Integration of Elderly serves daily 50 elderly people, people who are left without the help of relatives and close people, received a donation from Edelweiss Foundation that consisted of blankets, furniture and TV sets. The Center’s main goal is the psycho-sociological rehabilitation process of the elderly, social assistance, primary medicine, etc. Vlad Plahotniuc, the Founder of Edelweiss Foundation mentioned: “The third age is a period that should come hand in hand with peace of mind and soul, wisdom and noblesse.”
Unfortunately, we have to admit that this age in our country at the present moment brings only poverty, illnesses and loneliness. All the mentioned above saddens the joy of this age, which is beautiful by the way. I see that these rehabilitation centers, like the one in Ungheni, represent the hope for these elderly people, take on their shoulders some of the elderly concerns and troubles, and light up the hope in the next day. Now, this is one of the main objectives of Edelweiss Foundation, whose projects cover the whole territory of the county, promptly responding to the requests of the needy.”
Neli Lupu: “The Center’s needs are extremely numerous, we are financed by the City Hall, which unfortunately cannot satisfy our requests. Therefore, we are forced to ask for assistance from local and international donors.”
Alexandru Ambros, Mayor of Ungheni town: “ It is a very generous gesture, and mainly the one of developing the culture of donation. This gesture should be replicated by other local people and should serve as an example.”
Maria Moraru, beneficiary, Ungheni Center for Rehabilitation and Integration of Elderly: “We are happy to have TV sets as presents. We have a TV set in the Center but if we have them in the room everyone can watch the program he likes. ”
