The The Edelweiss team have organised today the visit of about 20 children from the “Blessed Joseph” orphanage to the “Bookfest” International Book Fair.
Edelweiss Foundation offered the children vouchers amounting 20.000 MLD, so they would be able to choose their favourite books from the bookstacks. Moreover, the little ones also had the surprise to meet the famous writer Iulian Filip.
As soon as they entered the hall full of books, the little ones were eager to visit as many bookstacks and leaf through the books. Gradually, everyone understood what he wanted, and carefully chose the books that they decided to read.
“I chose a book with wisdom because I want to be wiser. There are many quotes that you can read every day”, said one of the children.
The areas of interest were the most diverse. Another child confessed: “I chose a book of gestures. To understand what some gestures mean. So that I can read people”.
After having enjoyed the books they bought another surprise was prepared for children - a meeting with the famous author of children’s literature – Iulian Filip.
Impressed by this thing and the work of the writer one of the little girls told us: “It gives me such emotions to be little again, to read books for children again. I really like how the book is illustrated”.
“I’m proud to see him, I’m glad. Since I have met Iulian Filip, I try to find several books written by him and read them”.
The delight from the meeting was mutual, because the author told us in beautiful words we used to that: “The writer sitting at the writing desk surely imagines the relationship of the book, what the book becomes, but this practice of meeting between the writers and readers, this meeting supplements the children’s motivation in their relationship with the book”.
After the beautiful experience the children’s educator Elena Gutu also expressed her joy and thanks for the Foundation’s support to bring the children to the Bookfest.
“Many thanks we express to the Edelweiss Foundation, especially to Mr. Plahotniuc. The children were surprised, they were delighted. They are at that age when they need to accumulate as much knowledge as possible and start to come along this path of knowledge”.
The project manager Dorina Postu talked about the importance of books for children now when a new school year begins and expressed the hope that the gesture of the Edelweiss founder Vlad Plahotniuc will bring joy and smiles to the little ones.
“It is a great joy for the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” to offer such a precious gift to these children, especially since a new school year begins and the books are necessary. It is a small gesture by which the Edelweiss Founder wanted to bring a drop of joy and many smiles to these wonderful children”.
