Edelweiss Foundation offered financial support to 3 children with infantile cerebral paralysis from the Community Service Center for Children at Risk “Casa pentru toti” from Ungheni town. The Center services 40 children and requested financial assistance for 4 surgeries for 12 years old Olesea Lupu, 3 interventions for 13years old Marcel Pacisin and 2 surgeries for the 15 years old Dumitru Cozlov.
Based on Center representative’s opinion, these kids need orthopedic medical intervention. The disease appears at birth and these kids have been operated previously but unfortunately this type of surgery should be repeated one in 2 years (allows the muscles development, strengthens the tendons for moving hands and legs).
Moreover, based on the representatives of Ungheni Center, the parents intended to cancel the surgeries due to the lack of financial means. The surgeries, sponsored by Edelweiss Foundation, will be performed by Russian specialists, especially invited for this occasion. Besides the 700 Euros, that Edelweiss donated each kid, the Foundation offered them encyclopedias and puzzles.
Vlad Plahotniuc, the Founder of Edelweiss Foundation mentioned: “I am sure that these surgeries will be successful ones, and we intend to continue assisting these kids in future. I wish parents to be strong and courageous and join efforts in integrating these children into community life”.
Marcel Pacisin, beneficiary: “I thank you for the donation.”
Maria Calchei, Director of the Center: “this will be the 3rd surgery for Dumitru. Not long ago he could only walk with help and on his toes. Today he can step well. It is a major progress for us. Marcel and Oleasea are walking only around the room at present. With the support of Edelweiss Foundation these kids will have a chance to succeed and we hope we can achieve our goal. At least to be able to serve themselves. Children will be extremely grateful for what have been done for them.”
