The Edelweiss Foundation has inaugurated the first project in the framework of the campaign "Village of the Future"
19 July 2017The first project of local development in the framework of the campaign "Village of the Future" has been launched on Tuesday, 18th of July, in Valeni village, Cahul district. At the event were present representatives of the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc "Edelweiss", the local public administration, also the local inhabitants from Valeni, who came to attend the inauguration ceremony of a pavilion which will serve as a space for the promotion of the traditional carpet weaving and the creation of craft items.

At the event were present representatives of the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc "Edelweiss", the local public administration, also the local inhabitants from Valeni, who came to attend the inauguration ceremony of a pavilion which will serve as a space for the promotion of the traditional carpet weaving and the creation of craft items.
The mayor of Valeni locality, Silvia Stirbet, thanked Edelweiss Foundation for the opportunity offered to realize such a beautiful idea to store and to continue the traditions in the localities of the Prut River. "Thank you for implementing this idea, now our housewives will have a place for the soul where they will be able to realize their handcrafts and will send the Moldovan traditions to future generations," said Silvia Stirbet.
The inhabitants of Valeni village that were present at the event were delighted with the realization of this project in their village. They mentioned that the inauguration of the pavilion, but also the arrangement of its adjacent area, is a very beautiful surprise, and some of them have already shown interest in exhibiting the traditional carpets,either made by themselves or inherited from their parents and grandparents .
The executive manager of the Edelweiss Foundation, Lidia Cucos, has shown that such projects are extremely important for the villages of our country. "Our Foundation aims to support local development projects through the national project" Village of the Future "and thus to stimulate families in our country to build a future in Moldova," said Lidia Cucos.
We remind that Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc "Edelweiss" launched on 3rd of March 2017, a contest within the project "Village of the Future", for the selection of the best five local development projects. Following this contest, the winning projects were declared by the villages of Valeni, Cahul district; Mindac,Drochia District; Meşeni, Rezina district; Milestii Mici, Ialoveni district and Sarata Galbena village, Hincesti district. Each of these localities will receive 200,000 lei prize from the ''Edelweiss'' Foundation and the money will be used to finance the local development projects submitted to the competition.
