The XXV-th edition of the “Maria Biesu” International Festival supported this year as well by the Edelweiss Foundation was opened

Lovers of opera and ballet have a great reason for joy. The 25-th edition of the “Maria Biesu” International Opera and Ballet Festival began on Friday with “Madame Butterfly” spectacle supported by famous soloists from the Republic of Moldova and abroad.

Lovers of opera and ballet have a great reason for joy. The 25-th edition of the “Maria Biesu” International Opera and Ballet Festival began on Friday with “Madame Butterfly” spectacle supported by famous soloists from the Republic of Moldova and abroad.
This year the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” supports this cultural event as well, which has already become a tradition in the Republic of Moldova.

“The Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” year after year has supported this festival to which we are spiritually linked. We believe it is absolutely necessary to support and encourage the cultural values and artists of our country”, the Executive Director of the Foundation Lidia Cucos said.
 
This year’s program of the Festival includes seven performances that will take place during September 9-17, and a gala concert as well. “This year we celebrate 25 years since the prima donna of the lyrical scene of the Republic of Moldova, our golden singer Maria Biesu has inaugurated this festival of theatre, opera and ballet stars and guided 19 editions of this festival”, the Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc said.

The program of the XXV-th edition of the Festival includes the following operas: “Aida”, “Madame Butterfly”, “Swan Lake”, “The Queen of Spades”, “Macbeth”, “Don Quixote” and “Eugene Onegin”.
