Edelweiss Foundation was extremely happy to acknowledge the recent performances obtained by the Moldovan K1 team and the Asian K1 Championship for amateurs which took place in Uzbekistan in the period of August 8-12, 2012. The Moldovan team won two golden and a silver medal in the framework of this competition.

“We are blessed with such good news recently. Not long after the emotions we experienced when the sportsman, who was supported by Edelweiss Foundation climbed the podium at the Olympic Games in London, namely the weightlifter Anatol Caracu, we have another reason for joy. We aimed at supporting performance and our faith and hopes were not deceived, the young people who were supported by Edelweiss in the past and at present brought honor to the Republic of Moldova. We will continue supporting the performance because it brings benefits to the country in terms of country reputation and image abroad”, declared Aneta Serbusca, Edelweiss Foundation’s Executive Director.

The golden medals were won by Iurie Chirilov (Lion Muay Thai Club) and Nicolai Ghinda (Champion Thai Gym Club), while the silver medal was won by Victor Curtis (Lion Muay Thai Club). Sportsmen from over 20 countries participated in the tournament from Tashkent. The trip to Asia Championship was financially supported by Edelweiss Foundation and K1 Federation of amateurs from Moldova.

Recently, the Moldovan sportsmen supported by Edelweiss Foundation have also participated at the European Championship in Lithuania and also returned with golden medals back home. K1 is a global trend that was founded in Tokyo, Japan by Kazuyoshi Ishii, former Kyokushin karate fighter.
