More than 30 years have passed since Irina Chetraru is teaching biology in the “Ion Creanga” High School in Radoaia village, Singerei district. She achieved great success in the department, and her pupils year by year show performance at Academic Olympics and win prizes at the republican level.
But what makes this biology teacher extraordinary among all the other teachers is love for profession and for her pupils.
“She is the favourite teacher of all the pupils and the sunbeam of the Department of Biology and Chemistry”, as described by the school principal in which she teaches.
Nor are the pupils behind when it comes to beautiful words for their teacher. They made a movie telling them why they feel that Irina Chetraru is a model teacher and sent it to the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss”.
”She is a person who radiates optimism, succeeding at the same time to convey it to us, and this is most important”, said one of the pupils.
After all these marks of appreciation, the Foundation named Irina Chetraru the ninth winner of the “The most beloved of the teachers” Campaign.
The Foundation’s team came to Radoaia High School to congratulate the winner. In order the moment to be very special, helped by the director of the institution Vitalie Petrov the Edelweiss members prepared a surprise that she will surely remember for a long time from now on.
The teacher was informed that the 12th grade pupils, who enrolled in the contest will have a photo session in the events hall. She was indeed surprised when she did find neither photographer, nor the pupils ready for the photo session, but found the team of the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” ready to hand her the title.
”I have the great honour to give you these flowers as a sign of gratitude and admiration from the pupils, to whom you plant a love for learning and knowledge with such patience and help them build a beautiful future in life. Congratulations!”, said the Executive Director of the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” Lidia Cucos.
Emotions overwhelmed the teacher and she could hardly hold back the tears of joy.
”Looks like it’s a dream, I don’t think this is reality. It seems to me that I will wake up and there will be nothing of this, I will be alone. Thank you very much”, said Irina Chetraru seeing the surprise.
The teacher confesses that the reason her pupils appreciate her is that she is not just a teacher to them, but also a good friend.
”The secret is that I’m trying to reach their level. This is the biggest secret. I invest my soul in them and I am very glad when the lesson ends and they tell me amazed: Is it over already?!”, said the teacher.
“The most beloved of the teachers” Contest was launched by the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” in autumn last year. Up to now, nine winning teachers have been awarded following the applications submitted by the pupils to the Foundation.
