Until today, Mindic village was virtually in darkness. But from now on, local people will have light on the streets. Street lighting installation works have been funded by the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” under the “Village of the Future” national project, aimed at modernising the rural localities of the Republic of Moldova.

The event took place in the presence of the representatives of the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss”, local public administration, but also of the villagers, who are extremely glad that they will now have light in the village.

“We are also afraid to walk on the streets when it’s dark, not just the kids. It’s great that from now on we’ll have light here. We thank the Edelweiss Foundation.”, said one of the villagers.
The Mayor of Mindic village says that all local residents are very satisfied and appreciate the help they received. “200 000 we received from the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss”. Five mayor’s offices in the country, including us with street lighting.”, said Ion Lupascu Mayor of Mindic village.
The inauguration event was attended also by representatives of the Edelweiss Foundation, who shared gifts to children, who were present at the inauguration of the street lighting system, and the Christmas tree lighting.
“It’s a pleasure for us to be with you. We congratulate you for being among the winners of the “Village of the Future” project initiated by the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss”. You are the ones who have believed in this project and in the beautiful things we can do for our villages.”, said Lidia Cucos the Executive Director of the “Edelweiss” Foundation.

We remind that on March 3 this year the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” have initiated a contest under the “Village of the Future” national project aiming primarily at modernisation of rural localities of the Republic of Moldova.

The selected projects were those proposed by the mayoralties of the following villages: Valeni, Cahul district - Traditional carpet in Prut’s Meadow - part of national identity; Mindic, Drochia district - Reconstruction and modernisation of the street lighting system; Meseni, Rezina district - Construction or reconstruction of treatment, sewerage and water supply systems; Milestii Mici, Ialoveni district - One park built in the village - one happy child at home and Sarata Galbena, Hincesti district - Purchasing a 18-seat minibus equipped with a special ramp for children with disabilities. Each of these localities have received awards each amounting 200.000 lei from the “Edelweiss” Foundation.
