Dozens of people from Drochia district participated today in the opening of the second psychological counselling and legal services office for victims of domestic violence within the “Protected Families” Campaign initiated by the Vlad Plahotniuc’s “Edelweiss” Foundation.
The “Edelweiss” team was greeted with enthusiasm at the “Ariadna” Maternity Centre where the counselling office will activate. The children have prepared beautiful drawings, they sang songs and recited poems and received in return gifts from the Foundation representatives.
“We thank the Foundation and Mr. Vlad Plahotniuc for this initiative, because we were waiting for this office for 11 years. The victims of domestic violence badly need this cabinet”, said Simion Sirbu, Director of the “Ariadna” Maternity Centre.
The project manager in the Vlad Plahotniuc’s “Edelweiss” Foundation Lidia Cucos thanked in her turn for the active involvement of the community from Drochia district. “We thank you as well for the active involvement. We believe it is very important the whole society to be united, because this phenomenon affects each one of us, directly or indirectly. We are very happy that we managed to open these cabinets with an expert team that can provide the necessary consultancy, because often the victims of domestic violence do not even know that they can be helped and that there are people who can offer them answers”, said Lidia Cucos.
Other localities of the Republic of Moldova will benefit as well from such psychological and legal counselling offices meant for the victims of domestic violence. The project is a part of the “Protected Families” information campaign which is implemented at the national level since August at the initiative of the Vlad Plahotniuc’s Foundation. The campaign aims to promote at the national level the ways of preventing domestic violence and the ways how the victims of abuse can be assisted.
