Today we are telling the story of two old men – Pintilia’s spouses from Saca village, Straseni district visited yesterday by the team of the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” under “Respect for Seniors” campaign.

Feodor Pintilii is 77 years old and has recently gone through a surgery that left him bedridden. Now, his wife Evdochia took on her shoulders all the household chores. The old woman admits that everyday worries overwhelm her, and some help with household troubles, medical consultations and food packages offered by the Foundation means more than a long-awaited support for her.

“I wish good health to young people who come and help me. When they come to me, they immediately look in the bucket and if there is no water, they go and bring water, if it is necessary to clean up, they clean up.”, said the old woman with tearful eyes.
They got married when they were 25 years old and love each other “as on that very first day”, said the pensioners emotionally. The biggest disappointment of Pintilia’s spouses is that they have no children, and remained without any support. And now the only consolation are the members of the Edelweiss Foundation who come and talk with them and offer support in everything they need.

“These meetings sensitize us immensely. Every time we come here and when we leave, we realize that we are lucky, because we had the opportunity to meet them, we had the opportunity to listen to them. They are, in fact, the roots of this nation and have a unique dose of wisdom.”, said Lidia Cucos the Executive Director of the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss”.

The “Respect for Seniors” campaign was launched in May 2017 by the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” in cooperation with the Embassy of Austria to Chisinau and the “Neoumanist” Association for Education and aims primarily at supporting the elderly people living alone. Thus, 40 lonely elderly persons from Straseni district benefit from medical assistance and care at home, as well as from social assistance services.
