Ion Lazarenco successfully crossed the Molokai Channel in Hawaii

A new sensational achievement for the Republic of Moldova and the Moldovan swimmer Ion Lazarenco, who recently swam across the Molokai Channel in Hawaii.

A new sensational achievement for the Republic of Moldova and the Moldovan swimmer Ion Lazarenco, who recently swam across the Molokai Channel in Hawaii. Thus, our compatriot has crossed already five of those seven largest channels in the world which he intends to swim over. 
For more than 18 hours during the route the Moldovan swimmer had to face fierce waves, bad weather and additionally, Lazarenco was stung by three jellyfish.

Taken together, our compatriot had swum 75 kilometres in less than a month, after crossing as well the Catalina Channel in California being financially supported by the Vlad Plahotniuc’s “Edelweiss” Foundation.
“It took me 18 hours to fight against strong currents, especially during the last nine miles. Only for this I needed seven hours but I did it. At the same time I want to thank my sponsors from Edelweiss”, said the Moldovan swimmer. 

The 37-year-old Moldovan sportsman established in Ireland since 1999 has set a goal to swim across those seven largest channels in the world collecting this way funds for the construction of sports fields in our country.
