Edelweiss’ and CERI’s Caravan started touring through Moldova

Chisinau, December 4, 2012- In the framework of Edelweiss’ and CERI’s Caravan, tens of volunteers will visit orphanages and boarding schools throughout Moldova to distribute shoes and winter socks to needy children in the next two weeks.

Chisinau, December 4, 2012- In the framework of Edelweiss’ and CERI’s Caravan, tens of volunteers will visit orphanages and boarding schools throughout Moldova to distribute shoes and winter socks to needy children in the next two weeks. The holiday project was launched by Edelweiss Foundation from the Republic of Moldova in partnership with CERI International Organization, having the aim of supporting the institutionalized children.

Edelweiss’ and CERI’s Caravan will target over 40 settlements on the territory of the Republic Moldova, at orphanages counting over 7000 children. The volunteers will distribute to children from these institutions winter shoes produced in Moldova. The total value of the donation reaches 180.000 US dollars. The message sent by Vlad Plahotniuc, the founder of Edelweiss Foundation, at the launching ceremony of Edelweiss’ and CERI’s Caravan was: “I would like to wish good luck to the Caravan, which today starts its tour through the villages and cities of the Republic of Moldova! This initiative, born within Edelweiss Foundation in partnership with CERI international organization, matches with the spirit of winter holidays and calls for solidarity and social responsibility.”

The first donation was made to Boarding School nr 3 from Chisinau, where over 230 children received winter shoes from the representatives of Edelweiss Foundation and CERI International Organization. The children were able to pick the pair of boots or shoes they liked the most. Igor Sandler, the principle of the boarding school warmly thanked for the donation and mentioned that it would be extremely useful to children. On her behalf, Aneta Serbusca, the Executive Director of Edelweiss Foundation, revealed that the Foundation she represents is happy to be part of Edelweiss’ and CERI’s Caravan next to CERI organization. “We are excited with the partnership that Edelweiss Foundation has concluded this year with CERI International Organization. Together we will manage to rend a helping hand to a great number of needy children throughout the Republic of Moldova”, mentioned Edelweiss’ representative. Dearing Garner, the Executive Director of CERI foundation talked about the importance of the project and the impact it is going to have on the 40 orphanages and boarding schools from Moldova.
