The Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc summarized the results of the national campaign to protect children’s health “Mobile Paediatric Cabinet 2017”. This year, three caravans equipped with modern medical equipment, including an ultrasound device for examination of internal organs have visited 325 localities of the Republic of Moldova, having consulted more than 21,000 children.
Most of the children were examined by an ultrasound device for the first time, following which doctors diagnosed various diseases the babies suffered from: “It was very good that emphasis was placed on the most remote villages where a family doctor really gets once a week, and in the difficult period of the year he does not reach that place even in that week”, paediatrician Cristina Turcan said.
Under the “Mobile Paediatric Cabinet 2017” project 19 paediatricians and 20 ultrasound specialists were involved, which in addition to medical investigations provided advices to children and their parents at the same time about balanced nutrition, and also recommendations about the care needed for babies.
Doctors prescribed 7226 treatments for ENT and ophthalmic disorders, 5712 for disorders of the digestive or nutritional system, 4904 treatments for diseases of the respiratory system, and among the most common diseases identified were dental - about 7005.
“Thanks to the Mobile Paediatric Cabinet a child was urgently hospitalized and prompt actions saved his life, and today he can continue to enjoy a happy childhood”, paediatrician Olesea Jalba said.
The results of the campaign implemented by Edelweiss were not long in coming. The amazing figures and the physicians’ efforts during the seven-month journey were appreciated even by the vice president of research, technology transfer and innovations of IMC Neli Revenco:
“You invigorated these villages, because you were there in the district, and the people were sensitized, people were extremely receptive, people remained satisfied. And especially those mothers whose children were examined for the first time.”
The “Mobile Paediatric Cabinet” campaign provided free medical assistance for the second consecutive year, being a continuation of the project with the same name implemented in 2016. “If we unite our efforts, we get where it is needed and we can somehow help to raise children, younger generations”, the Executive Director of the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” Lidia Cucos said.
The “Mobile Paediatric Cabinet” campaign is part of the actions implemented by Edelweiss to support families, mothers and children from Moldova and is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection.
