On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” visited the “Technological Lyceum for Visually Impaired Children” from Chisinau. The institution was provided with an interactive whiteboard, a projector, an advanced laptop, and software specifically tailored to the students’ learning needs.

The joy on the faces of the children was the biggest reward for the Edelweiss team. “We know that it is very important for children, be they typical or disabled, to have at school all the facilities that technology can offer. We want all pupils to reach their maximum potential, that is why we continue to invest in education”, the Executive Director of the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” Lidia Cucos said.

The interactive whiteboard and educational software is the latest technological novelty which delights teachers as well.
“Thanks the “Edelweiss” Foundation for the beautiful contribution. I think that this will increase school performance. The whiteboard has an audio system, and this helps us greatly because it improves the quality of activities and arouses more interest in children for lessons”, the headmaster of the  Technological Lyceum for Visually Impaired Children from Chisinau Aurica Brinza said.

At the same time, teachers will also benefit from a course on the use of interactive whiteboards.
“We are very pleased, especially our visually impaired children, who will now be able to see images. This is a very useful gift and we are glad that our school now has such a board”, the primary school teacher Tatiana Iacovis said.

An important advantage of the digital board is that pupils can learn in an interactive way, which fact improves their results.
“It greatly lightens our work and decreases the time we spend within a lesson. For instance, at Mathematics we lose 5 minutes only to draw a triangle of 30 degrees on a regular board, but it’s quite easier for us on an interactive whiteboard”, pupil of the 12th grade Igor Perdivara said.

Each year, on December 3 the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated. On this occasion the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” comes year after year to support children with special needs.
