The Last Bell Day came with one more surprise for Elena Stirbu, who is a history teacher and headmistress of the gymnasium in Larga village, Briceni district. The Edelweiss team participated in the school year closing ceremony and offered the teacher “The most beloved of the teachers” title.
Although she activates for 30 years as teacher she could hardly master her emotions when she found about the gesture made by her pupils to show how much they appreciate her.
“I was surprised by what the pupils to whom I teach history and civic education did. I tell you honestly, I heard about the contest on TV, but I did not think it could reach our school. Thank you for this award! It’s great to see what you do as a teacher is appreciated”, said the teacher.
Although they have well organized themselves and made efforts to shoot the video showing their appreciation for their teacher the meeting with the Edelweiss team was a surprise for the pupils of the school in the Larga village.
“We found out about the campaign carried out by the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc and decided to participate. We are very pleased that today Edelweiss made a great surprise both for us and our teachers”, said one of the pupils.
“The most beloved of the teachers” title is well-deserved by the history teacher. Her pupils see her as a friend who guides them and teaches them with much wisdom and patience. They tell us that this campaign met perfectly their desire to say “Thanks” in a creative and unexpected way.
“We thank the Edelweiss Foundation for the opportunity to show our love to Mrs. Elena, because we love her very much and we are very grateful that she is with us”.
Children’s gesture was also appreciated by other teachers. They appreciate the Edelweiss’s initiative and say that this is an encouragement for each teacher to see how his or her involvement is recognized.
“I want to express many thanks to the Foundation because it supports the teachers who deserve it and show remarkable success in this profession”, said Nina Pisnii, a teacher of the school in the Larga village.
“The most beloved of the teachers” campaign was launched in autumn last year pursuing the desire of the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” to award ten extraordinary teachers of the country.
The first title was handed over by the Edelweiss’s founder Vlad Plahotniuc on the very Teachers’ Day. During the campaign implementation pupils from all over the country have sent to Foundation short movies of appreciation of their teachers. Elena Stirbu from Larga village, Briceni district is the tenth and the last winner of the first edition of the campaign.
