“A healthy mind in a healthy body” - says a Latin famous phrase. We believe in this saying and support it to be used as often as possible in everyday life. And so we wanted to make the UTM students a beautiful surprise to help them reach good outcomes. “A healthy mind in a healthy body” - says a Latin famous phrase. We believe in this saying and support it to be used as often as possible in everyday life. And so we wanted to make the UTM students a beautiful surprise to help them reach good outcomes. The Edelweiss team contributed in order the young people could have the first modern gym hall, equipped with all the necessary facilities and free access.

The Edelweiss founder Vlad Plahotniuc studied at UTM and wanted to help make the dream of a gym hall to become a reality for university students.

“I’m proud of having graduated from this institution; these places are linked with many memories, mischief, problems and all that I have experienced here lives in me, in my soul”.

For a long time students wanted to have a gym hall in the place where they study, so they can move in free time and recreate. As soon as they saw the equipment and conditions, they were pleasantly impressed and told us they could hardly wait to try them.

Alexandru Perciun is one of the most excited students, because power lifting is one of his great passions. He has managed to become a world champion and says that the gym would help him get the same good outcomes in future.

“When I started, I did not have a gym like this. This one is well-equipped, there are more possibilities to train all your muscle groups, to become stronger and of course to get better results”.

The IT student Dumitru Calmîc is passionate about sports and wants to succeed in doing it. And he has already started, because he confessed that he has just returned from a European championship.

“Next year, as well many competitions will take place and I hope I will represent our country and the university both at national and international levels. And using the opportunity I want to express gratitude for this gym”.

All the young people we talked to were delighted by the facilities of the gym and the opportunity they are offered to come to relax after classes.

“It is very modern, modern equipment, as a gym hall should be. This is the place where I personally find myself. During the day there are analyzes, mathematics, arithmetic, statistics, and here I come to my universe, where I can think only of mine own stuff”.

“It’s great that this gym was opened here, one can come and do the sports during free time. One can come and do the sports after classes”.

There are many advantages for students; the sport helps them to be healthy and to get better learning outcomes.

“It is very important for us to develop other competencies of the students because it is known that there is a healthy mind in a healthy body”, said the UTM rector Viorel Bostan.

“The capacity of this gym is 50 people simultaneously. At least 300 students per day, in a week it’s something colossally”, said the head of the Physical Education department Anatol Popusoi.

The Founder Vlad Plahotniuc encouraged the young people to use the opportunity, which was not available to previous generations and to do sports on every occasion they have, because the benefits of this will be seen over a long period of time.

“I want to congratulate you on what is here, I said it once before that we did not have such conditions at all. The sport represented us, only we practiced it in various sheds, we could have a kettle ball and we did sports, but it helps us even today. I wish you success in everything that you are doing, not only here in the gym, but also out there. We have already said that you are the future. We do not forget the young people; in our souls we are also young”.
