At the beginning of November the Edelweiss team returned to the maternity ward in Balti with gifts for the children born here last days.
Little Daniel is the firstborn of the family and he brought a great joy to his parents. At the beginning of their journey together his young mother received from the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc all the products needed to properly take care of him.
“These are things that are really needed in the early days of a baby’s life. We thank Mr. Plahotniuc for the help he provides”, said Daniel’s excited mother.
Alexander is also the first child of the family. His parents were delighted with this substantial support received from the Foundation and they said that “A New Life” project succeeded to give confidence to those who are thinking of giving birth to a baby.
“All the things we receive from the Foundation are welcome. I believe that every mother who receives it feels both fulfilment and encouragement, and support from society, not just from family”.
Since March, when the project was extended to Balti the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc “Edelweiss” has distributed here more than 2,000 boxes of the newborn with products necessary to take care of babies.
“This is a desired gift. The newborn box is very helpful to young moms, it contains all basic necessities in the first days of a child’s life”, said the Chief of the Maternity Ward within the Balti Municipal Hospital Carolina Frumusachi.
The Executive Director of the Edelweiss Foundation Lidia Cucos talked about the motivation that made this campaign to come into being and continue for so long.
“Our campaign was specifically designed to support young families. We wanted to encourage young people to start a family here at home, in Moldova”.
More than 26,000 boxes were donated so far under “A New Life” campaign in those 24 maternity wards where it was implemented. Since December the model of the project will be taken over by the Government and extended to national level.
