Vlad Plahotniuc has congratulated the winners of the “Village of the Future” competition, initiated by the “Edelweiss” Foundation
The mayors who have submitted the winning projects of the “Village of the Future” competition were present in a meeting with Vlad Plahotniuc, who has congratulated them for the initiative to participate in the completion and for the concern they have for the localities and the citizens they represent.

On March 03 of the current year, the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc ”Edelweiss” has initiated a competition under the National Project “The Village of the Future”, aiming to modernize the rural localities in the Republic of Moldova. According to the Regulation of the competition, mayors from all over the country had the possibility to send to Edelweiss one or more projects, and the best five ones were to be financed by the Foundation.

The chosen projects were the ones suggested by the mayors from Văleni village, Cahul rayon – Traditional Carpet from the Prut Meadow – part of the national identity; Mîndîc village, Drochia rayon – Reconstruction and modernization of the street lighting system; Meşeni village, Rezina rayon – Construction or reconstruction of the water filtering, supply and sewerage systems; Mileştii Mici village, Ialoveni rayon – A park established in the village – a child happy at home, and Sărata Galbenă commune, Hînceşti rayon – Procurement of a minibus with 18 seats equipped with special ramp for the two children with special needs. Each of these localities will benefit from an award of 200.000 lei from "Edelweiss", and the money will be used for financing local development projects submitted in the competition.

“When we have initiated this project, we thought about those who live in Moldova, but also those who have left and would like to return. The problem is not that they leave, but the problem is that they do not return. We would like to support you to build a better live for Moldovans”, stated the founder of Edelweiss, Vlad Plahotniuc.

Those 5 mayors commended the initiation of this project and thanked the founder of the Foundation for the opportunity provided to them.
“This project is like some fresh air for us”, mentioned Silvia Ştirbeţ, mayor of Văleni village, Cahul rayon.

The mayor of Mîndîc village, Drochia rayon, Ion Lupaşcu, stated that “We have to provide qualitative services to citizens for them not to leave. I also left the country, and I saw how it is to live abroad and I would like to provide better life for Moldovans here, at home”.

As well, the mayor of Mileştii Mici village, Ialoveni rayon, Lilian Caramanu, was very impressed with the provided opportunity and thanked on behalf of those over 600 children from the locality who will enjoy the new park, which will be established based on the funding received from Edelweiss.

All the mayors present  at the meeting with Vlad Plahotniuc invited him to the localities which benefit from the support provided by the Foundation and ensured him that all the inhabitants are very pleased with and value the assistance that they received.
