Birth is a magical moment and we want to celebrate it as such, with gifts and much joy. This time we also came to the young mothers in Cahul maternity ward to congratulate them and offer them assistance at the beginning of the road.

The gift boxes are always well received by the parents and mothers are always excited about the surprise.

We were glad to meet Dumitrita and her newborn baby, Gloria. As she opened the gift box, Dumitrita expressed her delight:
“Thank you very much. In the box I found all the necessary things for the first days of a child’s life. Thanks to the whole team”.

For some moms this is not the first experience and not even the second or the third. Ana Bunescu is now the mother of eight cheerful and cute little children. She speaks with love and admiration about her children and, namely because this is not her first birth, she is even more grateful for the gift box.
Alina Tataru gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Dumitrita and the gift from the Edelweiss team makes her unbelievably happy.

“In the box I have a bodysuit for my daughter, diapers, and the first toy for Dumitrita. These things will be useful for her and for me because I will use them to dress her”.

It’s not just mothers who enjoy “A New Life” campaign. Irina Chirilenco who is the senior midwife of the Cahul Perinatal Department confessed that:
“The mothers are happy and they feel that someone is taking care of them. There are also mothers, who have everything, but they still enjoy these packages, and especially the moms from the socially vulnerable group are the happiest”.

Each visit to the maternity wards is a special and emotional one for the team of the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc.
“We were glad to be back here. We met mothers of many children, one of them was at the eighth birth experience, and seven children are waiting at home. She is an example for mothers across the country. We wish health, joy and fulfilment to all the mothers here in Cahul and across the country”, said the Edelweiss Executive Director Lidia Cucos.

Together with the joy of the mummies, the Cahul maternity ward was also visited by Member of Parliament Mrs. Elena Bacalu, who highly appreciated our campaign and the impact it has on families throughout the country.

“It is gratifying that this campaign has a positive impact on these mothers and children and following this experience it was taken over by the Government and step by step from December all the women who will give birth to a child will benefit from these boxes nationwide”.
Since the Edelweiss campaign was extended to the Cahul maternity ward over two thousand babies were born here. 
 
“A New Life” campaign, which was initiated by the Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc is carried out in 24 maternity wards across the country. In over two years since the campaign was launched more than 27 thousand families have benefited from the gift box, which contains all the necessary things for taking care of babies from the early days of their life. Recently, the Government announced that it will continue the implementation of “A New Life” campaign in all the maternity wards of the country.
