A lot of good spirit and energy for assistance in the household, but also food products and medical assistance – these are the elements that the Edelweiss team comes with every week to aunt Maria from Dolna village, Străşeni district.
Maria Olari is pensioner. She is 77 years old and she lives alone, after losing her husband and son. She does not have other relatives in the village, and the members of the mobile team are her relief and she always waits for them with a lot of joy.
“I am looking at the clock every hour. Will they come now or later? They bring food products, and good words, and they do it with pleasure and good spirit. I would like to thank them for having support and assistance at this age" tells the old lady with a lot of emotions.
The aunt Maria is helped by the mobile team of the “Edelweiss” Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc under the campaign “Respect for the Elderly”, which facilitates the old age for 40 old people from Străşeni district.
“For over more than half a year, we have been taking care of 40 elderly persons from Străşeni district – the ones who are in difficult situations, lacking care and attention from the people around. We come with a lot of pleasure every time and we leave richer in our souls, wiser and milder. We are glad that we can bring some smile on the faces of these elderly persons” mentioned the Executive Director of the “Edelweiss” Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc, Lidia Cucoş.
Under the umbrella of the “Respect for the Elderly” Campaign, which was launched in May by “Edelweiss” Foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc in collaboration with the Austrian Embassy and the Association for Education “Neoumanist”, 40 lonely elderly persons from Străşeni district receive packages of food products and benefit from medical assistance at home.
